It’s been several hours since I had some straight-out-of-central-casting wannabe gay-bashing knuckleheads (draggers?) threaten to kick my ass for being “a f**got”. My guess is it was a reaction to the coverage of the NYS senate’s passage of the same sex marriage bill and the many Pride weekend events in my usually LGBT-friendly nabe.

What bothered me most about the incident is that these preening macho men had their kids with them  There were several boys and girls, all under the age of 8, watching the incident with wide-eyes. It was surreal. I immediately thought of my own kids and was thankful I didn’t have them with me. Not clear why they singled me out but that really doesn’t matter. I just hope those kids reject that sort of hate when they get older…
